Steady After Two Rounds of Play

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Two rounds into the Mar. 12-13 Callaway Farms Invitational at the Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., the Yale men's golf team sits in ninth place with an overall score of +37. 

The Elis trail leaders San Diego State (+2) by 35 strokes after the tough opening day's play on Monday, during which time each player worked their way through two rounds at The Farms.

The event is the Bulldogs' first for the spring season, and provides strong preparation for the tournaments ahead against a very strong, predominantly west coast schools.

After the first day's play, sophomore Sam Bernstein was the best of the Yale players. His two-round score of +5 put him in a tie for 17th place, 10 strokes behind individual leader Anders Engell of St. Mary's.

Playing in his first spring tournament for the Elis, freshman William Davenport is not far behind Bernstein, sharing 23rd place after firing a +6 through the first two rounds. 

Yale's players will tee off around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning for the final round's play.
