Bulldogs Begin April Run
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Opening its spring season at The Course at Yale, the Yale men's golf team finished fourth at the Apr. 7 Yale Spring Opener in New Haven, Conn.
By the end of the up-and-down day, the Bulldogs finished with an overall score of 618 over two rounds — which earned them fourth place in a field of 13. That score trailed the score posted by Tennessee, which claimed first place with an overall score of 574.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was senior captain Jeffrey Hatten, who tied for 14th with an individual result of +12. Not far behind Hatten was junior Bradley Kushner, who was one shot down at +13 for the day, a result which tied him for 16th place.
All in all, the event proved to be a competitive opener for the Bulldogs' spring season on the east coast. It was their first tournament back home after they competed at the Mar. 12-13 Callaway Farms Invitational at the Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., where they finished in ninth place overall.
With its fourth place finish at home, Yale's team will now look ahead to other tournaments that run through April: the Apr. 14-15 Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J., the Apr. 21-22 Century Intercollegiate in Purchase, N.Y. and the Apr. 27-29 Ivy League Championship in Galloway, N.Y.
The Elis will look to repeat their string of success last spring, which included wins at the Princeton Invitational and the Ivy League Championship.
Next weekend the Bulldogs head to the Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, N.J. for the Princeton Invitational.
