Sets Stage For Remainder of Spring
POLK COUNTY, Fla. — In a 4.5-2.5 verdict, the Yale men's golf team triumphed against Bradley at the Streamsong Resort's Red Course in Polk County, Fla., on Mar. 18.
On the heels of a 565-578 loss to No. 10 Georgia in a historic match-up on Mar. 16, the Elis bounced back strongly Tuesday to claim victory. Fielding a squad of seven golfers, four of Yale's team found outright victory and another halved.
That result helps the Bulldogs build momentum ahead of their return to the northeast for the remainder of spring competition.
"This was a very busy and productive tour for the team. With competitive rounds at Auburn, Mountain Lake and Streamsong, along with the additional practice rounds, the players are getting into fine form," said head coach Colin Sheehan '97. "They have been exposed to the finest courses in the state of Florida and the weather has been perfect for our all-day sessions."
Next up is Apr. 6 Yale Spring Opener, which they will host at the Yale Golf Course. The Yale team last won the event in 2010 by one stroke over Central Connecticut State University.
"The team looks forward to returning to New Haven as they prepare for the April tournaments," Sheehan said.
That competition will be followed by the Apr. 14-15 Princeton Invitational at the Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, N.J. There, the Elis have taken home the championship for the past three years and will be looking to repeat their success.
