Victory By Two Strokes

PRINCETON, N.J. — After the stunning final round on Sunday, the Yale men's golf team emerged victorious at the Apr. 13-14 Princeton Invitational for the fourth year in a row.

A final round 295 let the Elis ascend up the leaderboard—from their second-place close on Saturday—to take home the title, with an +16 overall, two strokes ahead of second-place Princeton, which finished at +18.

In claiming victory through 54 holes here at the Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, N.J., the Bulldogs won their fourth Princeton Invitational title in a row. Last year they won in a nail-biting finish, one stroke clear of Georgetown, who finished in second.

Leading the way this year for the Bulldogs was senior captain Bradley Kushner, who shot an -2 overall to finish in third place overall. He was just two strokes short of tournament leaders, Brandon Matthews and Matthew Teesdale from Temple.

Right behind Kushner was junior Sam Bernstein, who fired a +1 overall to finish in fourth place. In his first Princeton Invitational, freshman Joe Willis finished in a tie for 17th with an +8.

The Princeton Invitational featured a 14-team field including all seven other Ivy League teams. Golfers played through the par-71 Springdale course, measuring 6,390 yards.

Next up for the Elis will be the Apr. 20-21 Century Intercollegiate, held this year at the Century Country Club in Purchase, N.Y. That will the Bulldogs' last opportunity to tune up before the season-culminating Ivy League Championship, held on Apr. 26-28 at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md.
