NEW HAVEN, Conn.-After 54 holes of play at the Macdonald Cup, the Yale men's golf team (+7) has finished in third place, seven strokes behind Ivy League rival Harvard (E) and five behind second-place finisher Stirling University (+2).
Senior Captain Li Wang (-7) followed his absurd 60 in round two with a very solid par-round of 70 to close out the tournament. He finished the day in second place individually, three shots behind Boston College's Matt Naumec (-10). Freshman Eric Hall (+1) shot a 4-under 66 in his final round, launching him 17 places up the leaderboard to a top-ten finish. Sophomore Eoin Leonard (+3) also had a strong showing, shooting a 2-under 68 on Sunday.
The Yale B-team (+16) finished in eighth place, one shot behind Boston College. The Yale A-team's final round 274, which was the lowest round of the tournament, allowed them to climb four places on the leaderboard from their position in eighth at the end of round two.
Two weekends from now, the Bulldogs will partake in the Autotrader.com Classic over Fall break. The event takes place in Atlanta, Ga.
