The Yale men's golf team opened up its 2007 schedule by competing in the two-day Liberty University Spring Invitational at the Crosswinds Golf Course in Savannah, Ga., last week. The Bulldogs finished 10th out of 13 teams in a strong field at 31 over par.
The Elis shot a 301 on March 12 followed by a 306 on the 13th to finish with a 607, which was 33 strokes behind Division II power Armstrong Atlantic, which won with a 574.
Ben Wescoe, who tied for 11th, was Yale's top golfer at the Liberty tournament with a 73-74-147. Joe Hernandez (32nd) was next with a 75-78-153 while Mark Matza, Colby Moore and Taylor Hakes all finished tied for 40th at 156.
Yale's B team was 13th with a 685.
