Bulldogs Finish 7th at Kauai Collegiate Cup

March 18, 2006

Kauai, HI - The Yale men's golf team began its spring season this Friday in Kauai, Hawaii at the 7th Annual Kauai Collegiate Cup at Princeville Resort. Western Kentucky University hosted the event. The tournament, which was originally planned to be 54 holes, was limited to only 18 due to uncharacteristically bad weather in Kauai. Yale finished in 7th place out of 12 teams.

Yale's Mark Matza and Rick Reissman both shot 71 and tied for 12th place. As a team, Yale shot 291, 13 strokes behind winner Illinois State University.

Host and defending champion Western Kentucky finished in 6th place, only one stroke ahead of the Bulldogs. Princeton, the only other Ivy squad participating in the tournament, took 3rd with 286.

Illinois State's Matt Miller shot the best individual round with 66.

Yale next travels to Westover, MD to compete in the Drew Upton Classic on April 1-2.
