Bulldogs Finish 14th at Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational

GRASONVILLE, Md. - In the final round of the Lacrosse Homes Collegiate Invitational the Bulldogs were able to shave four strokes off their score from Saturday, but it was not enough. Yale dropped two spots to finish tied with Brown for 14th. The Bulldogs and Bears shot identical rounds on Saturday and on Sunday to finish with a score of 632. The winner, Longwood, finished 34 strokes ahead of the Bulldogs with a two-day score of 598.
Following a frost delay, play got underway at Prospect Bay Country Club around 9:15 a.m. After shooting Yale's low round Saturday, freshman Thomas McCarthy was able to manage only an 85. However, sophomore Ben Wescoe stepped up and carded Yale's tournament low round of 74, placing him in a tie for 25th. Junior Colby Moore shot Yale's second lowest round of the day with a score of 77. The Bulldogs' other two competitors, juniors Joseph Hernandez and Taylor Hakes, shot scores of 80 and 83 respectively.
The other Ivy school in the tournament, Cornell, finished in eighth place, 10 strokes ahead of the Bulldogs with a score of 622.
Next weekend, Yale will host its own tournament at the Yale Golf Course. The first round will tee off on Saturday, Apr. 5.
