Crisfield, MD - The Yale Men's golf team began its second tournament of the spring this morning, teeing off at the Drew Upton Classic. Hosted by Towson University, the tournament is being played on the Great Hope Golf Course in Crisfield, MD. After the first round of play, the Bulldogs, who shot 293, are tied for eighth place in the 20-team field. They trail leader Richmond University by only 10 strokes.
Mark Matza shot the best round for the Bulldogs with 71. Matza is tied with nine other golfers for eighth place. Army's Austin Luher is the individual leader after shooting 67.
Rick Reissman, only one shot behind Matza with 72, also had an impressive day for the Bulldogs. He is currently tied for 18th place.
Yale is one of five Ivy schools competing in the tournament. Brown, Columbia, Cornell and Princeton are the other ancient eight members in the field.
Play concludes tomorrow with second round tee times beginning at 8 AM.
