NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs shot a 304 in today's final round of the Yale Spring Opener at the Yale Golf Course, a seven shot improvement over their first round total, but remained in ninth place with a score of 615. Joe Hernandez, who competed for Yale II, was the Bulldogs' medalist. He followed up yesterday's 73 with a 74 and finished in a four-way tie for eighth place.
Boston College shot an impressive 286 today and captured the team title with a 590, one stroke ahead of UConn, who finished second. Drexel was third (603) followed by Cornell (606), Central Connecticut (607) and Seton Hall (611).
Yale's Mark Matza and Rick Reissman both finished with a 150, which tied for 19th. Reissman shot two-over-par 72 in today's final round. Steve Gray had a 156, Dan Levy shot 159 and Andrew Denenberg had a 163.
UConn's A.J. Sierskierski was the individual medalist. He had a two-round total of 143, one stroke ahead Boston College's Kyle Kelly and Cornell's Andrew Tucker.
The Bulldogs are at the Ivy League Championship next weekend in Hamburg, N.J.
