Yale is in 12th place after the first round of the Division I Men's New England Golf Championships. The University of Rhode Island is hosting the two-day tournament, which is being played at the Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence, R.I. Binghamton leads the field of 16 teams after the first 18 holes.

Binghamton's Jeff Wolniewicz is currently in the individual lead after shooting a four-under par 68. Joe Hernandez was Yale's best golfer on the first day, shooting 75. He sits tied with eight other players for 20th place.

Mark Matza (76, T29), Colby Moore (77, T35), Dan Levy (80, T53) and Rick Reissman (81, T60) rounded out Yale's top five.

Play concludes tomorrow with the tournament's second and final round. Groups will start teeing off at 7:30 a.m. with the final group teeing off at 10:30 a.m.
