Newport, R.I. - After two rounds of play at the Adams Cup, the Yale men's golf team sits in 13th place out of 15 teams. Both rounds were played on Tuesday and the Bulldogs managed to climb up one spot after the first round before the day ended.
The Bulldogs shot 629 (314-315) over two rounds.
Wichita St. currently leads the field with a team total of 591, six strokes ahead of second place Maryland. The University of Rhode Island, the tournament's host, is not far behind in third place with 603.
Brown is the only other Ivy team competing in the tournament and is in 15th place with 641.
Freshman Thomas Mccarthy, playing in his first ever collegiate tournament, led all Yale golfers on the first day with 151. His impressive 73 in the second round lifted him from 41st place in at the end of the first round to a tie for 21st place at the end of the day.
Colby Moore shot two consecutive rounds of 78 and is tied for 41st.
Freshman Brandon Marick, also playing in his first collegiate event, finished with 161 and is tied for 58th.
The tournament is being played at the Newport National Golf Course. The third and final round of the Adams Cup tees off tomorrow morning.
