Dan Levy led all Bulldog golfers with a 2-over-par 74 at the Adams Cup in Newport, Rhode Island. The Elis finished twelfth after the first day of play in the highly competitive tournament.
With a team total of 317, the Elis were 29 strokes over par at the Newport National Golf Club. Behind Levy was Rick Reissman, who shot a 78, and Steve Gray with an 82. Alex Fulton finished with an 83 and Gabe Borrud, who won the Dartmouth Invitational last weekend, finished with an 84.
With 290 strokes, Furman University leads all teams, while the top individual finisher was University of South Florida's Brad Quiri, who shot a two-under-par 70.
The field at the Adams Cup is extremely competitive, featuring a number of top 50 teams. No. 12 Michigan State, No. 29 Rhode Island, No. 35 Furman, No. 46 Pepperdine, and No. 49 Mississippi are all in the running, as is 2002 NCAA champion Minnesota.
