Yale Tied For Seventh After Opening 18 Of Macdonald Cup

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After a windy day where scoring was certainly difficult on the lightning-fast greens of the Yale Golf Course, the Bulldogs sit tied for seventh with Dartmouth in the 20-team Macdonald Cup at the end of the first 18 holes of play. Mark Matza led the way for Yale with a six-over 76, followed closely by Joe Potter, who shot a seven-over 77.
On a day where the average score was 82.2, Yale's first team totaled a 319, with an average score of 79.75. In addition to Matza's 76, Joe Hernandez shot an 80, followed by Ben Wescoe with an 81, and Colby Moore and Taylor Hakes, who each shot 82.
Lehigh leads the tournament after day one with a total of 308. Robert Lindstrom of Birmingham South, Alan Borowsky of Lehigh and Michael Shore of Harvard tied for the individual low round of the day with two-over 72s.
Play will conclude tomorrow.
