Bulldogs Earn Best Ranking Ever

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The two Division I men's college hockey polls were released today and both had Yale (8-1, 4-0 ECAC) at No. 2, the best ranking ever for a Bulldog hockey team. The uscho.com poll had the Elis tied with Boston University (7-1-5) while the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine rankings slated Yale alone at the second spot.

The Bulldogs, who did not receive any first-place votes, moved up a spot from No. 3 (previous best) in both of last week's polls after beating Sacred Heart 5-1 on Nov. 23 and having last weekend off.

Minnesota-Duluth (11-1-2) received all but one of the first-place votes between the two polls, while Boston University grabbed one of those top votes. The Elis were 66 points behind UMD in the USA Today poll, while the Terriers and Bulldogs trailed by 98 points on the uscho.com list.

This weekend Yale hosts No. 15/16 Rensselaer and No. 13/13 Union on Friday (7 p.m.) and Sunday (3 p.m.) at Ingalls Rink. The Bulldogs are the top scoring team in the country, while the Engineers and Dutchmen are among the nation's leaders in scoring defense.

A limited number of tickets are available for both games and can be purchased through yalebulldogs.com or by calling 203.432.1400.
