Bulldogs Roar Back For OT Draw
If only you could get points for putting shots on goal. The Yale men’s hockey team, despite outshooting Harvard 54-27, raced back from a late, 2-0 deficit to earn a 2-2 OT tie after third period goals by Matt Killian and Kenny Agostino.

First-Period Deficit Too Much for Blue
There are no easy games in conference play, and tonight was the perfect example of that, and why it takes a 60-minute effort to win every night. Yale gave up three first-period goals and could not recover over the last 40 minutes in a 4-1 ECAC Hockey loss to Dartmouth at Ingalls Rink.

Muse Joins Team USA For Worlds
He earned a gold medal at the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia, four months before helping the Bulldogs take their first national championship. That was quite a 2013 for Yale Assistant Coach Dan Muse, who hopes to be part of a gold repeat with Team USA at the 2014 championships in Sweden.

Old Rivals Coming To Whale This Week
Ingalls Rink has a holiday look this weekend with green and red uniformed players skating against the Bulldogs. The Yale men’s hockey team hosts an ECAC weekend set featuring Dartmouth and Harvard before heading into a 20-day break from competition for exams and the holidays. The Big Green are in Friday, followed by the Crimson in a pair of 7 p.m. face-offs that can be seen on the Ivy Digital Network and heard on AM-1340 (wybcx.com).

Izmirlian OT Goal Lifts Blue
The Bulldogs, playing without three key players in the lineup, overcame a pair of one-goal deficits before getting an overtime tally from Chris Izmirlian to register a 3-2 overtime win over Merrimack in front of a near full house at Ingalls Rink.

Jesse Root has always been a leader on the Yale men’s hockey team, but he hasn’t always been the scoring leader. The senior captain continued his hot hand for the No. 9 Bulldogs by scoring his team-high fifth and sixth goals of the season in a 5-2 ECAC Hockey win over Colgate.

The Yale men’s hockey team (4-1-2, 2-0-2 ECAC) heads out for its second conference road set with games in upstate New York. The No. 9 Bulldogs take on Colgate (6-6-1, 4-2-0) on Friday and Cornell (4-3-1, 2-3-1) on Saturday. Both games are at 7 p.m.

The Yale men’s hockey team (3-1-2, 2-0-2 ECAC) is home this Saturday night for a non-conference matchup and its second straight game against a Connecticut school. The Bulldogs took a weekend off from ECAC Hockey play, but they didn’t slow down at either end of the rink. Jesse Root had two goals and Trent Ruffolo added a goal and an assist as No. 9 Yale beat Sacred Heart 5-1 at Ingalls Rink.

The battle of ranked Connecticut teams in their first meeting since last April's national championship game followed the script of a classic college hockey game and was all that everyone expected from the rematch. No. 9 Yale came back from two goals down to earn a 3-3 OT tie at No. 5 Quinnipiac in ECAC Hockey action before a sellout crowd at High Point Solutions Arena.

Rematches Highlight Start of Road ECAC Play
The Yale men’s hockey team (2-1-1, 1-0-1 ECAC) begins conference road play with a combination of interesting rematches this Friday and Saturday nights at 7. The Bulldogs are at Princeton’s Baker Rink to skate against the Tigers (1-3, 0-2); the two played on Oct. 26 at the Liberty Hockey Invitational. Yale closes out the weekend set by heading to Hamden for a rematch of the 2013 national championship game against No. 5/6 Quinnipiac (8-1, 2-0). Friday’s game airs live on WYBC (AM-1340) and the Ivy Digital Network, while Saturday’s game can be seen on WCCT TV, Fox College Sports (Pacific) and on Quinnipiac’s YouTube channel and heard on WYBC.

The Yale men’s hockey team opens its 2013-14 ECAC and home schedule by hosting St. Lawrence and Clarkson this weekend at the Whale. In addition to facing the 4-2 Saints on Friday, the No. 11/11 Bulldogs unveil the 2012-13 national championship banner prior to the puck drop. The festivities and game air live on ESPN3. Bulldogs Charge Back For 3-3 OT Tie
It’s hard enough playing with targets on your back from winning the national championship. It’s even tougher on the night you celebrate the title while facing a team you swept in last year’s conference playoffs. Throw in a pair of two-goal deficits and you have an impressive showing by the Bulldogs in their comeback, home opener, a 3-3 OT tie with St. Lawrence.

Total Mortgage Athlete Spotlight of the Week – Men's Hockey Player Jesse Root
Jesse Root was nothing shy of spectacular in the Bulldogs’ successful run in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Root scored game-winning goals in the West Regional against both Minnesota and North Dakota to send the Bulldogs to the Frozen Four. His next goal came just moments before he and his teammates raised the National Championship trophy after a 4-0 victory over Quinnipiac. Jesse Root, the 2013-14 captain of the Bulldogs, is this week’s Total Mortgage Athlete Spotlight of the Week.

The first win of the 2013-14 season was a complete team effort, the perfect way to head into ECAC Hockey play. Three different Bulldogs hit the net and five others had assists as the Yale men’s hockey team beat Princeton 3-2 in the finale of the Liberty Hockey Invitational at the Prudential Center.

The Yale men’s hockey team won the NCAA Championship last year, but no Bulldog anywhere in the sport had a better season than Mark Arcobello ’10, who was the American Hockey League All-Star Game MVP, tallied 68 points and scored a dozen post-season goals.

Record Numbers Produced at Murdoch Outing
The two national championship trophies sat atop a table adorned with a blue tablecloth in a white tent with a backdrop of Frozen Four and 2013 national title banners. This was the scene on the tee box of the ninth hole on the world famous Course at Yale, and all 34 golf groups posed with the trophies and Keith Allain ’80, Yale’s Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach, before playing the famous hole during the Murray Murdoch Golf Tournament honoring the Bulldogs’ first national championship.

Colin Dueck, a standout defenseman for the Yale men’s hockey team the last four years, has been signed by the ECHL Idaho Steelheads and will join the training camp in early October.

Malcolm Signs With AHL Hartford
Jeff Malcolm, the senior goalie who posted a shutout in the 2013 national championship game victory last April, is staying in Connecticut to continue his playing career. The Lethbridge, Alb., native just signed a contract with the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolfpack.

Twenty-one members of the 2012-13 Yale men’s hockey team were honored today as ECAC All-Academic Selections. In order to earn this honor, these Bulldogs student-athletes maintained a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA.

Guerriero Named Assistant Coach
Jason Guerriero, the only Northeastern University player to lead Hockey East in scoring, has been named as an assistant coach for the Yale men’s hockey team. He comes to the Bulldogs after spending the last two seasons coaching at Holy Cross.

Yale Freshman Drafted by Blackhawks
John Hayden, a member of Yale Hockey’s Class of 2017, was drafted last night by the Chicago Blackhawks. The Stanley Cup Champions selected the Greenwich, Conn., native with the 13th pick (74th overall) in the third round of the NHL Draft held at the Prudential Center.
