Bulldogs Have 16 Home Dates
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The first official look at the defending national champions is an Oct. 19 exhibition at Ingalls Rink. The Yale men's hockey team begins its 2013-14 regular season a week later with a pair of games at the Liberty Invitational hosted by Newark's Prudential Center, while the official start of the ECAC Hockey season is Nov. 1 at home against St. Lawrence.
The 2013-14 Yale season includes 16 home dates, including 11 conference games, three non-league and two exhibitions.
The Elis, who earned their first national title by winning the West Regional and then making it four straight at the Frozen Four in Pittsburgh, see their national championship game opponent on Nov. 9 with a 7 p.m. contest at Quinnipiac. They go at it again on Valentine's Day at the Whale.
There are three neutral site games planned. After the two at the home of the New Jersey Devils to open the regular season on Oct. 25 and 26, the Blue takes part in the first "Rivalry on Ice" at Madison Square Garden against Harvard. That non-conference Yale-Harvard game (NBC Sports Network) is set for Jan. 11 and tickets are currently on sale.
ECAC Hockey teams are now competing to earn a trip to Lake Placid, N.Y., for the conference championship weekend. The semifinals and final move back to the Herb Brooks Arena in the Olympic Center after being played in Albany and Atlantic City.
Yale and Fairfield are back hosting part of the national tournament at Webster Bank Arena. The 2014 NCAA East Regional is slated for the Bridgeport, Conn., venue the last weekend in March. It is one of four regionals that will send a team to Philadelphia (Wells Fargo Center) for the 2014 Frozen Four.
