Hayden Earns 2 ECAC Honors

Yale Rookie, Bulldogs Have Series with Brown

ALBANY, NY – Yale forward John Hayden (Greenwich, Conn.) has been named ECAC Hockey Player and Rookie of the Week after a four-point weekend that helped the No. 10 Bulldogs net two points on a difficult road trip to the North Country.

Hayden had a career-high two goals and an assist in the 4-2 win over St. Lawrence on Jan. 18. His first tally, on an assist from captain Jesse Root, was the last of Yale's three-goal first period and the game-winner.

The Bulldog rookie, who assisted on the game's first goal and now has eight points this year, converted a pass from Kenny Agostino 21 seconds into the second period for his other goal.

Hayden, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound former U.S. National Team Development Program skater, came to New Haven after being drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the third round of the 2013 draft.

He served as a captain and scored 15 goals with 29 points in 45 games during 2012-13.

Yale takes on travel partner Brown this weekend in a home-and-home series that begins at Providence on Friday night. The teams square off at Ingalls Rink on Saturday at 7 pm and a limited number of seats are available.
