Yale's NCAA Regional a Big Success

Over 13,000 Come to WBA Over Weekend

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Over 13,000 fans came to Webster Bank Arena while a national TV audience also watched on ESPNU and ESPN2 as Yale hosted the two-day 2014 men's hockey NCAA East Regional this weekend.

This was the fourth time Yale and Fairfield co-hosted the East Regional at Bridgeport. The Elis have played in two of them.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host this NCAA Men's Hockey Regional Championship along with Fairfield University," said Wayne Dean, Yale's Senior Associate AD who served as co-tournament director. "Webster Bank Arena and the City of Bridgeport serve as a great venue and city to conduct this national event.  Connecticut is a great hockey state and bringing the country's best college hockey teams here to compete is something we enjoy and are very proud of."

The Bulldogs are a member of ECAC Hockey, and the ECAC had another regional winner this year. Union College defeated Providence in today's championship game to send an ECAC member to the Frozen Four for a third straight season.

Yale won the 2013 Frozen Four at Pittsburgh. This year's NCAA Championship will be hosted by the ECAC in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center on April 10 and 12.
