Big Weekend Earns Conference Honor
ALBANY, N.Y. – He stopped 68 of 71 shots over a two-game, first-round ECAC Hockey Playoff Series sweep last weekend in his first post-season action as a collegiate goalie. Yale sophomore Sam Tucker (Wilton, Conn.) was named conference goalie of the week after helping the Bulldogs advance to this weekend's quarterfinals at Boston.
Tucker stopped 44 (career-high) of 46 shots last Saturday, including eight in overtime, as the Elis beat Dartmouth 3-2 in overtime. He had 24 stops the night before in Yale's 6-1 win.
The second-year Bulldog has started 12 games and carries a 2.70 goals against into this weekend's best-of-three series against the No. 2 ranked Harvard Crimson, who are unbeaten in their last dozen outings.
His big weekend in the first round has earned the Bulldogs a big opportunity this week. Friday's game-one start time is 7 p.m. and airs live on ecachockey.com.
