BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The field is set for the 2018 NCAA Men's Hockey East Regional at Bridgeport's Webster Bank Arena next weekend, and four different conferences will be on display in the march to a national championship.
No. 1 seed Notre Dame, Providence (2), Clarkson (3) and Michigan Tech (4) compete next Friday and Saturday for the right to represent the region at the 2018 Frozen Four in St. Paul, Minn.
Here's the Friday, March 23, semifinal matchups:
Game 1: Notre Dame (1) vs. Michigan Tech (4) on ESPN2. Puck drops at 3 p.m.
Game 2: Providence (2) vs. Clarkson (3) on ESPNU. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Saturday's regional final has a 6 p.m. puck drop and airs live on ESPNU. All games are also available through WatchESPN.
Yale and Fairfield are co-hosting the NCAA Hockey East Regional for the fifth time this week. The last time was 2014, and Union College came out of Bridgeport two weeks later to win the national championship at Philadelphia. The Dutchmen were the second winner at Bridgeport to win a Frozen Four. Minnesota-Duluth won in 2011 after getting past Yale in the regional final.
Webster Bank Arena is one of four regional sites hosting Division I games this weekend. The West is at Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D (March 23-24), the Northeast plays at DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. (March 24-25), while the Midwest Regional is at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pa. (March 24-25).
