Hall Gets First Collegiate Goals

HAMILTON, N.Y.  – Curtis Hall's first collegiate goals helped his team grab two important ECAC Hockey points on a tough road trip. The first-year forward scored twice in the opening period to help Yale win 4-2 against Colgate at the Class of 1965 Arena.

Senior forward Joe Snively, who leads the team with 3 goals and 7 points, handed out a trio of helpers as the Bulldogs improved to 2-1 overall and in conference play.

Mitchell Smith got the scoreboard moving first in a three-goal opening period for the visitors. Taking advantage of an odd-man rush, Smith held into the left circle and then sent the puck high on the blocker side at 8:02.

Hall and the Elis jumped on pair of power plays to gain early separation. The big forward from Ohio took a crossing feed from Snively and beat Raiders' goalie Mitch Benson with a shot from the lower left circle.

Hall was working in the low slot on the next advantage, and Snively was at it again, sending a pass to the rookie, who re-directed through the legs of the goalie.

Colgate took advantage of a 5-minute major in the second to cut the margin to a pair, but the visitors followed up with their fourth of the night during a 4-on-4. Kevin O'Neil's rising wrist shot from the top of the left circle went over Benson's shoulder at 16:57 to make it 4-1.

The Raiders closed to within 2 goals midway through the third, but Yale senior goalie Sam Tucker (27 saves) stepped up his effort to register the victory.
