Elis Earn No. 19 Ranking

Jan. 12, 2009

For the first time since November of 2006 the Yale men's ice hockey team has earned a spot in one of the weekly national polls. The Bulldogs are 19th in today's USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Top 20 after winning four straight games and sweeping last weekend's road conference play.

The 2006-07 Elis, in Keith Allain's first year as Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach of Hockey, won six of the first seven games and were ranked as high as No. 15. Yale then went 0-5-2 and has not been ranked since.

The Bulldogs already have wins over four ranked teams: Clarkson (15); Minnesota State (17); Air Force (11) and Dartmouth (15) with a few more likely on the horizon. Upcoming Yale opponents currently ranked in that USCHO poll include Cornell (5), Princeton (10) and Dartmouth (18).

Yale, winners of seven of the last nine games, is home this weekend to face Clarkson and St. Lawrence in a pair of 7 p.m. games. . Tickets are still available for both, but call the Yale Ticket Office (203.432.1400) now to avoid the game-nigh rush.
