Brian O'Neill (Yardley, Pa.), the top-scoring newcomer for this year's Yale hockey team, was named to the 2008-09 College Hockey News All-Rookie Team.
O'Neill, one of three forwards selected to the national squad, was the only ECAC Hockey selection on the all-rookie group and one of only two from the East.
He led the Bulldog newcomers with 12 goals and 26 points while skating between talented junior forwards Sean Backman and Mark Arcobello. That trio led the team with 49 goals and helped the Blue (24-8-2) to its best season ever.
O'Neill was ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week twice and ranked 15th among Division I freshmen (4th in ECAC) with .79 points per game. He was also named to the 2008-09 ECAC All-Rookie Team.
