Bulldogs Announce Class of 2011

The Yale men's hockey team has announced a class of 2011 that includes eight players: four forwards, three defensemen and a goalie. The new Bulldog skaters are Broc Little, Denny Kearney, Mike Matczak, Ken Trentowski, Jimmy Martin, Ryan Rondeau, Jeff Anderson and Brendan Mason.

"We are excited to about a very strong class of 2011. Coaches [C.J.] Marottolo and [Kyle] Wallack have worked diligently to attract quality student-athletes to our program," said Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach of Hockey. "This class has tremendous balance, fills several needs and adds depth to all areas of our team. Our group represents some of the best from the British Columbia Hockey League, the U.S. Hockey League, the Eastern Junior Hockey League and New England Prep School Hockey. Many of these players are from winning programs, including a New England Prep School champion, an Eastern Junior League champion, a USHL finalist, and a provincial finalist in Western Canada."

The Elis, who went 11-17-3 last year and fell in the ECAC playoffs at Harvard in March, enjoyed one of the most productive rookie classes in school history last winter. The class of 2010 not only led the team in scoring with both Sean Backman and Mark Arcobello as its top point scorers, but Backman was named ECAC co-Rookie of the Year.
