Junior Attackman Picked by Inside Lacrosse
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Matt Gibson, a junior on the Yale men's lacrosse team, has been named to the Inside Lacrosse 2011 Pre-Season All-America team. The high-scoring attackman earned honorable mention status after notching 26 goals in 2010.
Gibson, last season's New England Player of the Year, was a second-team All-Ivy selection after leading the Elis with 44 points and averaging better than three points per game. He had goals in 11 of Yale's 14 games as the Bulldogs went 10-4 and earned a share of the Ivy League Championship.
The 2010 Yale team MVP, Gibson scored five goals and had eight points in a one-goal victory over UMass. He added five more goals in a win at Dartmouth.
Gibson, the former captain of the Chaminade High School lacrosse team, followed his brother Brendan '10 to Yale and its lacrosse program.
