Elis Picked No. 16 in Pre-Season Poll
Bulldogs To Defend Ivy Title
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The 2011 Yale men's lacrosse team has been picked No. 16 on Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook 2011 Pre-Season Poll.
The Inside Lacrosse rankings are the result of a voting process that includes coaches and media. The Bulldogs were not ranked in the 2010 pre-season poll but finished in the top 20 in each poll after going 10-4 and grabbing a share of the Ancient Eight crown. Their highest ranking last spring was No. 9 heading into Yale's appearance in the inaugural Ivy League Post-Season Tournament last May at Ithaca, N.Y.
Captain Patrick Coleman, a senior defenseman, is one of 24 returning Yale lettermen. He and junior attackman Matt Gibson (26-18-44) have the Elis in position to challenge for another Ivy title.
Yale, led by eighth-year head coach Andy Shay, is one of four (Cornell, Princeton, Brown) Ivy League schools included on the top 20 list.
