Yale Ranked No. 20 in Pre-Season Poll

Elis One of Three Ivy Teams in Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The first 2013 NCAA men's lacrosse pre-season rankings have appeared and InsideLacrosse 2013 Face-Off Yearbook puts Yale at No. 20 after the Bulldogs finished 14th last spring.

The Elis, who went 11-5 and made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 20 years, lost 10 players to graduation, including attackman Matt Gibson, the 2012 Major League Lacrosse Rookie of the Year.

There is plenty of talent in the doghouse this spring. The 2013 Bulldogs include USILA Honorable Mention All-Americans Peter Johnson (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Dylan Levings (Massapequa, NY) and All-Ivy defenseman Michael McCormack (West Islip, NY).

McCormack, the senior captain, ranked 6th in the nation with 2.13 caused turnovers, while his classmate, Johnson (in photo), a senior defenseman, was 16th. Levings, a junior face-off man, was fourth in Division 1 with a .632 win percentage.

The Blue, one of three Ivy teams in the poll, opens the 2013 regular season at St. John's on Feb. 23, while the first of six games at Reese Stadium this spring is a March 9 contest with Fairfield.
