4 Bulldogs Make All-Ivy Team

Johnson, McCormack, Mangan, Zdrill Honored

PRINCETON, N.J. – The day before the Yale men's lacrosse team takes off for Ithaca to defend its league tournament championship, four Bulldogs received All-Ivy recognition. There was one first-team pick, defenseman Peter Johnson, a pair of second-team selections (D Michael McCormack, A Brandon Mangan) and an honorable mention (A Kirby Zdrill).

Johnson (in photo), a two-time first-teamer, was one of three Yale seniors to make the all-league squad. Johnson (Minnetonka, MN), an All-America candidate, has also been selected as a finalist for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award. The award is given to Division I student-athletes who show notable achievement in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. Johnson is first on the team and ninth in the nation this season with 2.23 caused turnovers per game.

The only non-senior was Mangan, who is in this third season at Yale.  Mangan (Wantagh, NY.), an All-America candidate, leads the Bulldogs in points (55), goals (32) and assists (23), and is eighth in Division 1 in points per game with 4.23.

McCormack (West Islip, NY.), the captain and a two-time second-team All-Ivy pick, has caused 16 turnovers and scooped up 48 ground balls this season. He is another Bulldog All-America candidate.

Zdrill is the third most efficient scorer in the nation, connecting on 53.1 percent of shots this year. The Edmonton, Alb., native is third on the team in goals scored with 26.

The No. 13 Bulldogs face No. 17 Penn Friday at 5 p.m. in the first semifinal of the 2013 Ivy League Tournament hosted by top seed Cornell.
