Yale Defensive Pair Gets USILA Honor
BALTIMORE, Md. – A pair of Yale senior defensemen picked up the last awards of the 2013 men's lacrosse season for their work in the classroom. Peter Johnson (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Michael McCormack (West Islip, NY) were named USILA Scholar All-Americans today.
The two Bulldogs, who helped Yale to its second straight Ivy League Tournament title and NCAA appearance, competed in last weekend's USILA North-South Senior All-Star game at Radnor, Pa., prior to the championship weekend in Philadelphia.
Johnson is a mechanical engineering major in Berkeley College who was recently honored as a Senior CLASS Award All-American. On the field this spring he earned honorable mention All-America honors as well as being a first-team All-Ivy and All-New England pick. Johnson also made the Ivy League's All-Tournament Team after the Blue beat Penn and Princeton.
McCormack, the captain of the Elis, led the squad to a 12-5 overall mark. After graduating, he took off for his professional lacrosse career and is currently with Major League Lacrosse's Charlotte Hounds. McCormack, a political science major in Saybrook College, was a second-team All-Ivy selection who also made the Ivy All-Tournament squad.
