Ierlan Named co-Ivy POW
The No. 4 Bulldogs, winners of three straight, finish off their regular-season home schedule with the last non-league contest and a visit from Quinnipiac. Yale (9-2, 4-1 Ivy), which had another Ivy League Player of the Week in junior TD Ierlan, faces off against the Bobcats (7-5, 4-2 MAAC) at Reese Stadium Tuesday night at 7 in a contest airing live on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
The Bulldogs have taken all 4 games against their New Haven Country neighbors by a combined score of 58-30. The first was in 2002, a 17-8 decision and the most goals Yale has netted in the short series.
Brandon Mangan had 3 goals and 3 assists while Conrad Oberbeck chipped in 3 goals in Yale's 14-11 win over the Bobcats in 2014 at Reese Stadium.
In a rematch of the 2018 NCAA Semifinals, Yale traveled to Albany last Friday night and registered a 10-5 win over the Great Danes. The Elis, who have qualified for the May 3-5 Ivy League Tournament, scored the first 6 goals and never looked back. TD Ierlan won 16 of 17 on the X, had 13 ground balls and scored a goal, while Jack Starr notched 11 saves. Yale completes the 2019 regular-season schedule this Saturday at Harvard. It was Ierlan's third Ivy Player of the Week honor this season and the third time he also garnered USILA Team of the Week honors.
Seniors Foster Cuomo and Mike Fletcher combined for all 10 Bobcat goals last Saturday afternoon as QU beat Monmouth, 10-9, on senior day at Hamden. The Bobcats, who have split their last four games, have two remaining regular season games as they try to make the MAAC Tournament.
