Seven Players To Join Roster In Fall
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale men's soccer coach Brian Tompkins will welcome seven freshmen to New Haven this fall. Scott Armburst (Edmond, OK), Kevin Peterson (Sarasota, FL), Frank Shaw (Silver Springs, MD), Bobby Thalman (Greenwood Village, CO), Milan Tica (Schereville IN), Tony Wilbar (Louisville, KY) and Adrian Wright (Rochester Hills, MI) all bring strong credentials.
"We are excited about having these young men join our squad," said Yale head coach Brian Tompkins. "They all possess talent, competitive spirit and high character, and I expect them to make an immediate impression on and off the field. Their contributions will be key to our effectiveness this season, and we are looking forward to integrating them with the returning players in August."

Scott Armburst F/M 5-8 155 Edmond, Okla. Edmond Memorial HS
Two-time all state selection at Edmond Memorial High School... Team captain as a senior... Finished his career with 24 goals and 34 assists... Helped lead team to state championship as a junior and to state semifinals in his senior year... Played for the Edmond Soccer Club for four years and was a four-time team captain... Played for Tulsa Soccer Club for three years and was two-time team captain... Won two state championships with club teams and the 2008 Blue Chip Tournament in Cincinnati... Father and uncle played tennis at Valparaiso... Grandfather played tennis at Penn State.

Kevin Peterson M 5-10 155 Sarasota, Fla. Saint Stephen's Episcopal School
Four-year starter at Saint Stephen's Episcopal School... Captained and helped lead team to three district titles, a regional championship and the state finals in 2009... Named team MVP in his sophomore and senior seasons... Captained the Players Club of Tampa Bay, the 2006 Florida state champions... Also played for FC Sarasota and was a member of Florida ODP... Older brother, Dale, will be a junior on the Yale men's soccer team this fall.

Frank Shaw M/D 6-0 170 Silver Spring, Md. Sidwell Friends School
Scored 53 career goals at the Sidwell Friends School... Three-time all conference selection... Named honorable mention All-Met by the Washington Post... Selected to the John Warring Memorial All-Tournament team in 2007... Helped lead Sidwell to three conference championships... Played for the Potomac Academy club team, which qualified for the Academy playoffs in 2009... An eagle scout.

Bobby Thalman GK 6-5 195 Greenwood Village, Colo. Colorado Academy
NSCAA/Adidas All Region selection as a senior at Colorado Academy... Named to ESPN Rise All Area Colorado Team... Two-time all-state and all-league selection... Four-year starting goalkeeper for Colorado Academy... Helped lead team to state finals as a senior... Colorado Academy reached quarterfinals in his sophomore year and semifinals in his junior season... Team captain and Defensive Player of the Year as a senior... Played for U18 and U16 Real Colorado US Soccer Development Academy... Team was two-time Western Conference champions and finished fourth in the nation... Sister, Jessie, is a goalkeeper at Gonzaga.

Milan Tica D 6-4 200 Schererville, Ind. Morgan Park Academy
Independent School League Player of the Year at Morgan Park Academy... Earned all-state honors from the Chicago Tribune three times... Four-time all-conference selection... Named team MVP three times... Helped lead Morgan Park to a fourth-place finish in the state, the best in school history... Member of the Super Y League national team and the USYSA Region II team... Played for the Chicago Magic Soccer Club, which finished second at the USYSA under-14 national championship... Magic won three regional championships and three State Cups... Has travelled to Spain, Germany, Holland and Belgium with various club teams.

Tony Wilbar D 6-1 190 Louisville, Ky. DuPont Manual HS
DuPont Manual High School's all-time leading scorer with 62 career goals... Finished with 37 career assists... Three-time all-state selection... Named to All-District team twice... All-Region selection... Chosen team's Offensive MVP three times... Four-year starter... Served as team captain as a senior... Helped lead DuPont to the 2005 Kentucky state finals... Team was a three-time regional finalist during his career... Played on Kentucky ODP team for five years... Played for Javanon Soccer Club, which won six State Cup championships and was the 2009 Region II Boys U-18 champions... Served as Javanon 91 boys team captain for eight years... Cousin is an actor who co-starred with Shaquille O'Neill in Kazaam and played football at Harvard.

Adrian Wright F/M 5-7 145 Rochester Hills, MI Detroit Country Day
First team all-state selection as a senior at Detroit Country Day School... Earned honorable mention all-state recognition in 2007... Two-time all-district, all-region and all-area honoree... Helped lead Detroit Country Day to state championships in 2005 and 2007... Also played for the Vardar Soccer Club... Spent 10 days in Costa Rica volunteering in a refugee camp, in a medical clinic and a vacation bible school/soccer camp.
