Bulldogs Meet Eagles Tuesday Night
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The last two weeks have been very frustrating for the Yale men's soccer team. The Bulldogs have dropped a pair of overtime decisions and lost another game where they had a big edge in shots and possession time. Tuesday night, Yale will meet a team in a similar frame of mind. Boston College is on a two-game losing streak, and both came in double overtime. Kickoff at BC is slated for 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs (2-4-2) are coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to eighth-ranked Harvard on Saturday. Brian Rogers scored the only goal with 7:07 left in the second overtime period. The loss spoiled a strong performance from Yale goalkeeper Travis Chulick, who made a season-high eight saves. For his efforts, Chulick was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday.
Boston College (5-5) lost to 24th-ranked North Carolina State on Friday when Tyler Lassiter snapped a 1-1 tie in the 103rd minute with his second goal of the match. The Eagles own a pair of victories over nationally ranked teams - 1-0 over No. 14 Boston University and 2-0 over 11th-ranked Duke. Charlie Rugg leads the team with eight points (3 goals, 2 assists). Justin Luthy has started all 10 games and has a 0.78 goals against average.
Yale and BC are playing for the eighth straight year. Last year in New Haven, the Eagles won 2-1 in dramatic fashion when Jeremiah Gallington's shot from 15 yards out crossed the goal line just before the final buzzer sounded. BC leads the all-time series 8-4-2.
