Fourth In-State Opponent For Bulldogs
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team faces another big test on Saturday night when Sacred Heart visits Reese Stadium. The Pioneers received votes in this week's NSCAA national poll and are ranked second in the North Atlantic Region. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs (0-5) have done a good job generating offensive chances in recent games but have not seen results. Milan Tica has been particularly unlucky. Against Hofstra last Friday, he nearly gave Yale the lead midway through the second half but his shot banged off the post. On Wednesday night against Central Connecticut, Tica was denied again by the post on a hard shot from the left wing in the second half.
Sacred Heart (4-1) suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday, 3-1 at Providence. The Pioneers won their first four games in a season for the first time in the program's Division I history. Marcello Castro leads the team with three goals and 11 points. Alex Fait has started all five games in goal and has a 1.15 goals against average.
Yale leads the all-time series with Sacred Heart 3-2-1, but the Pioneers won the last meeting, 4-0 in Fairfield last year.
