Bulldogs Look To Extend Unbeaten Streak To Three
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The start of Ivy League play is a little over a week away, and it looks like the Yale men's soccer team is close to ready. The Bulldogs are unbeaten in their last two games and will look to extend the streak when they host Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday night. Kickoff a Reese Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
One of the encouraging signs has been the play of sophomore goalkeeper Bobby Thalman. Thalman, who tallied only 45 minutes in his rookie season, has played every minute of every game so far this year. He had perhaps his best game on Tuesday, making five saves in posting his first shutout in a 0-0 tie with Quinnipiac. Yale (1-5-1) has allowed one goal or less in four of its last five games.
Fairleigh Dickinson (2-3) is coming off a 2-1 overtime victory over Temple last Sunday. Dominic Reinold scored both goals for the Knights, including the game-winner in the second overtime period. Yale is the second Ivy League opponent for FDU, which fell 1-0 to Princeton on Sept. 4.
Yale and Fairleigh Dickinson are playing for the first time since 2008 when the Knights edged the Bulldogs are the Dartmouth Classic.
