Detorie Named Ivy League Rookie Of Week
Made Game Saving Defensive Play To Preserve Tie
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Tyler Detorie, who made a game-saving defensive play to preserve Yale's 1-1 tie with Columbia on Saturday, has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Detorie, a Canton, Conn., native, slid at the goal line to clear away Henning Sauerbier's shot with a little over a minute to play in regulation. Sauerbier, who scored Columbia's goal in the first half, had dribbled past goalkeeper Bobby Thalman and appeared to have an open goal to shoot at. Detorie played all 110 minutes in the game and helped anchor a strong Yale defensive effort.
On the season, Detorie has appeared in all 14 games, including making 12 starts.
As a senior at Canton High School last fall, Detorie earned CSCA all-state honors and was selected to play in the Connecticut Senior Bowl.
In addition, Scott Armbrust was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll. Armbrust's goal midway through the second half tied the score at 1-1.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they play at Brown at 7 p.m.
