Kirdzik Named Ivy League Rookie Of Week
Scored Game-Winning Goal Against Dartmouth
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Cameron Kirdzik, who scored the winning goal with 3 minutes, 4 seconds left in the second overtime on Saturday against Dartmouth, has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
The winning play came off a free kick. Henos Musie sent a cross that was punched away by Dartmouth goalkeeper James Hickok right to Henry Albrecht. Albrecht sent a shot towards goal that Kirdzik redirected inside the post.
It was Kirdzik's third goal of the season, which is second on the team. He has appeared in all 10 games, including making eight starts.
Kirdzik is the third Yale player to earn an honor from the Ivy League this season. Peter Jacobson was the Sept. 16 Player of the Week and Henos Musie was named the co-Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week on Oct. 7.
The Bulldogs, who sit alone in first place in the Ivy League with a 2-0 record, are back in Reese Stadium on Saturday, hosting Cornell at 3:30 p.m.
