First Trip To Easton Since 1996
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale has little time to recuperate from Saturday's 2-2 tie with Dartmouth on a hot and humid day at Reese Stadium. The Bulldogs travel to Easton, Pa., to meet Lafayette on Tuesday. Kickoff at Oaks Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
Here are some notes:
* Goalkeeper Tom Wallenstein made his first career vs. Dartmouth on Saturday and looked confident and capable. He made three saves and was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
* Miguel Yuste's first career goal was a very important one. Yuste scored with 40 seconds left in the second half as the Bulldogs rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 tie with Dartmouth, the three-time defending Ivy League champions.
* All three Yale victories have come by shutout.
* In their only other trip to Easton, the Bulldogs edged Lafayette 2-1 in 1996. Yale leads the all-time series 3-1. The Leopards, though, won the most recent meeting, 2-0 last year at Reese Stadium.
The Leopards (1-10) are coming off a 2-0 loss to Boston University on Saturday. Evan Vare and Christian Moyse lead Lafayette with two goals each. The Leopards are a young team with only four seniors on the roster, three of which are goalkeepers.
The Bulldogs return to Reese Stadium to host Cornell on Saturday at 5 p.m.
