Downs Named United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American

Selected To Second Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Nicky Downs has earned another accolade for his success on the field and in the classroom. Downs was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Second Team.

It is the latest in what has been a season full of recognition for Downs, who earned first team All-Ivy and third team All-Northeast Region honors after starting all 16 games and tying for second in the Ivy League with five assists.

In addition, Downs was one of 30 men's candidates for the Senior Class Award and also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.

Student-athletes receiving Scholar All-America recognition at the NCAA Division I level met the following criteria:

  • 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career
  • Started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team
  • Nominated by head coach of current College Services member institution
  • Junior or above in academic standing; and, if a transfer student, in second year at school.
