Block has provided the Bulldogs with a spark off the bench throughout his career. His first career goal came last year against Rhode Island. He also assisted on Shannon Brooks's game-winning goal in overtime against American in the Yale Classic. Block was a second team Academic All-District selection and also was named Academic All-Ivy. As a sophomore, Block notched his first career point with an assist in Yale's 7-0 win over Sacred Heart. As a freshman, he made his first career start against Hartford and also was in the starting lineup against UConn. At Marquette University High School, Block was a four-year letterwinner and helped his squad win the state championship in each of his four years, and earn a rank of ninth nationally. He was a two-time first team all-conference and all-state selection. Block also competed on the FC Milwaukee National Club team which captured state championships in 1999, 2000 and 2001. In addition, he participated in the Olympic Development program from 1997-2000, and was a member of the regional championship squad in 1999.
