STORRS, Conn. - Alex Munns scored the only goal of the game at 13:04 as Yale upset 17th-ranked Connecticut 1-0. Munns settled an Andrew Dealy feed and drilled a shot into the left corner from 18 yards out.
"Deals gave me a great ball," said Munns, who also scored the only goal in Yale's 1-0 victory over Hartford on Saturday. "I took a touch and just let it go."
Yale's win snapped a 20-game regular season home unbeaten streak for the Huskies. Bulldog goalkeeper Matt Aleksinas made seven saves, including several key stops in the second half, in recording his second consecutive shutout.
"We're improving defensively," said Yale head coach Brian Tompkins. "Matt made a couple of big saves, and we dodged a few bullets."
UConn had a chance to the tie score in the final minutes but a header deflected off the post.
The win was Yale's second of the season over a nationally ranked opponent. The Bulldogs beat 19th-ranked Stanford at Brown's Tournament.
"The guys played hard and smart to earn the victory against a very good opponent," Tompkins said. "We hope the momentum from this win will carry over into the Ivy League season."
The Bulldogs open league play on Saturday night when they host Harvard at 7 p.m. at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium.
