NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Lucas Richardson scored the only goal of the game in the 12th minute and Dartmouth held on for a 1-0 victory over Yale on a rainy afternoon at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium. Rowan Anders was forced to make only one save in goal to post the shutout for the Big Green, who won its fifth straight game to improve to 6-1-3 overall and 2-0 in Ivy League play. The loss snapped Yale's two-game winning streak and dropped the Bulldogs to 1-1 in Ivy play.

"It was a tremendous, competitive battle," said Yale head coach Brian Tompkins. "The conditions made it difficult, but both teams tried to play good soccer. Dartmouth's experience was the difference in the end."

The Big Green scored at 11:04 when Richardson headed in P.J. Scheufele's corner kick.

"They caught us on a re-start," Tompkins said.

Dartmouth outshot Yale 7-3 in the first half. The teams combined for only five shots in the second half as field conditions deteriorated rapidly. The Yale-Dartmouth women's game that was scheduled to be played at 7 p.m. following the men's game was postponed.

Erik Geiger started in goal for the Bulldogs and made four saves.

Yale is back in action on Wednesday at Boston College at 7 p.m.
