Early Dartmouth Goal Holds Up, Yale Falls 1-0
Oct. 10, 2004
HANOVER, N.H. -- Scott Darci took a feed from Mark Limpert and beat Yale goalkeeper Geoff Hollington with a low shot just 5 minutes, 6 seconds into the game as Dartmouth edged the Bulldogs 1-0 in an Ivy League game at Chase Field. Hollington finished with four saves for Yale, which saw its two-game winning streak come to an end. The Big Green improved to 3-1-4 overall and 1-0-1 in the Ivy League with the victory.
"It was a close and very competitive game," said Yale head coach Brian Tompkins. "We had our chances to tie it, but we missed some good opportunities. It's never easy to win here."
Rowan Anders made six saves to post the shutout in goal for the Big Green, which outshot Yale 13-9.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Boston College at 7 p.m. at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium. Yale then travels to Cornell for an Ivy game on Saturday at 7 p.m.
"We're still in the running for the league title," Tompkins said. "We just have to bounce back next weekend in Ithaca."
