NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Brian Roberts scored the only goal of the game just before the final horn sounded as Yale edged Dartmouth 1-0 in a thrilling Ivy League game at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium. The Bulldogs (6-3, 2-0 Ivy) had intense pressure on the Dartmouth goal in the final seconds, and Roberts deflected the ball into the net just as the horn sounded.
"This game typifies what Ivy League soccer is all about," said Yale head coach Brian Tompkins. "The two teams played hard, competitive soccer. We were happy to find a way to score right at the end."
Matt Aleksinas made five saves in goal to post his fifth straight shutout. Yale has won five straight games, all by 1-0 scores. The Bulldogs haven't allowed a goal since the first half of the Sept. 21 game against Creighton.
Yale controlled play for much of the game and outshot the Big Green 14-9, including 8-3 in the second half.
Rowan Anders made five saves in goal for the Big Green (4-3-2, 0-2 Ivy).
Yale plays at Boston College on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
