NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Alex Munns scored three goals and Gage Hills added two as Yale cruised to a 7-0 victory over Sacred Heart on a chilly night at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium. Shannon Brooks and Nick Franchot also scored for the Bulldogs, who have won four of their last six games. Dwayne Whylly and Matt Aleksinas combined on Yale's second shutout of the season in goal.

Hills added a pair of assists, while Munns, who now leads Yale in scoring with 13 points, had one assist.

"It was good for our strikers to have some success," said Yale head coach Brian Tompkins. "We did a good job capitalizing on our opportunities."

Yale (4-8) opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Hills fired a shot that hit the crossbar, but the rebound came to Munns, who tapped it in. Brooks gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead late in the first half when he deflected in a Josh Block cross. Hills scored twice in a 32-second span of the second half to give Yale a 4-0 lead. After Munns scored in the 69th minute, Franchot scored his first career goal at 80:34 to make it 6-0. Munns completed the hat trick at 82:08 to round out the scoring.

Jason Roeder and Chris Marchese combined to make four saves in goal for the Pioneers (1-11-1).

Yale outshot Sacred Heart 20-4.

The Bulldogs return to the friendly confines of the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday when they host 14th-ranked Penn at 7 p.m.
