CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sherron Manswell scored the only goal of the game with less than a minute left in the second overtime as Boston College edged 25th-ranked Yale 1-0 in a non-league game. It was Manswell's 10th goal of the season. Dwayne Whylly made four saves in goal for the Bulldogs, who are now 8-3-4 overall.
"It's a disappointing result because we played very well," said Yale head coach Brian Tompkins. "We created a lot of chances but just couldn't find the touch for the all-important first goal. It may have been our best performance of the season, so hopefully we can carry the momentum into Saturday's Ivy game."
Shane Boggis made five saves to post the shutout for Boston College (5-7-2)
Yale outshot the Eagles 12-10 and had a 2-1 advantage in the overtimes.
The Bulldogs play their final home game of the season on Saturday when they host Brown at 4 p.m. at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium.
