NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs hope to build on Sunday's 3-1 victory over UW-Milwaukee when they travel to Boston College on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. kickoff. It won't be easy, however. The Eagles (5-1) are ranked 21st in this week's NSCAA national poll and No. 6 by Soccer America and have won their last four games, including a 2-1 overtime decision against North Carolina on Sunday. Wednesday's game can viewed on a computer for a fee at ACCSelect.com.
Midfielder Tyler Guse scored twice in the victory over the Panthers. Yale also had two players notch their first career points. Freshman Brad Rose scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 30th minute, and freshman Eric Meyer assisted on Guse's second goal, which gave the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead early in the second half.
Wednesday is the second of five games for Yale against teams that are ranked in this week's NSCAA top-25. The Bulldogs fell to No. 3 Northwestern in the season opener on Sept. 7 and play No. 5 UConn (Oct. 24), No. 11 Harvard (Nov. 17) and No. 14 Brown (Nov. 3) in the coming weeks.
The Eagles have outscored their opponents 14-1 since falling 2-1 to Quinnipiac on Sept. 3. Alejandro Bedoya was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week on Monday. He was involved in six of the 10 BC goals scored in two victories last week and leads the team in assists (7) and points (13). Sherron Manswell has a team-high four goals.
Wednesday is Yale's final game before opening Ivy League play against Dartmouth on Oct. 6 at 4:30 p.m.
