NEW HAVEN, Conn. - A stretch of three straight games against in-state opponents for the Yale men's soccer team comes to an end on Saturday when Fairfield makes the short trip up I-95 to Reese Stadium for a 4 p.m. kickoff. Fans can follow the action live on GameTracker.
The Bulldogs (3-2-1) are coming off an impressive 2-0 victory over Quinnipiac on Tuesday. Liam Leonard, who leads the team in scoring with six points, came off the bench to score both goals in the first half. Goalkeeper Travis Chulick has started all six games and posted a 0.96 goals against average with an .824 save percentage. He hasn't allowed a goal in his last 241 minutes, 59 seconds of play.
Fairfield (2-3) played a pair of games in Florida last weekend, beating Florida International 2-1 and falling 3-1 to Florida Gulf Coast. Tom Clements and Matthew Uy share the team lead in goals with two apiece, while goalkeeper Justin Burse has started all five games, posting a 1.59 goals against average.
"Fairfield is a solid team that is always hard to break down. We have had some tight games with them over the years that were often decided by a single goal," said Yale head coach Brian Tompkins. "We will need to be sharp this weekend to gain the upper hand."
Yale leads the series with Fairfield 13-5-2, but the Stags have won the last three meetings, including a 1-0 decision last year in Fairfield.
