NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Alex Harrison headed in a John Pilkington direct kick with 18 seconds left in the second half as Central Connecticut rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Yale 3-2 at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium. Ryan's Raybould's goal in the 79th minute gave Yale a 2-0 lead, but the Blue Devils scored three times in the final 6:40 to win.
After a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs (8-6) grabbed the lead when Lindsey Williams took advantage of a give-away by a Central defender and scored on a breakaway. Raybould's goal on a direct kick from 25 yards out increased the lead to 2-0 at 78:36. William Boulton got Central on the board when he took a long feed from Peter Howe and drilled a shot into the lower left corner at 83:20. The Blue Devils (9-2-3) tied it on an own goal nearly three minutes later. Pilkington sent a cross in front that was inadvertently kicked in by a Yale player.
Yale outshot Central 17-14. Matt Aleksinas made six saves for the Bulldogs. Andrew Sierman had five stops for the Blue Devils, who are unbeaten in their last five games.
Yale returns to action on Saturday at Columbia at 11 a.m.
