NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The final non-league game of the season has the Bulldogs traveling to Long Island to meet Stony Brook on Halloween night. The kickoff is slated for 7 p.m., and live stats from the game will be available on GameTracker, which can be accessed from the schedule section of yalebulldogs.com.
Yale (3-6-4) is coming off a 4-1 victory over Columbia on Saturday night in New York City. The four goals were a season-high for the Bulldogs, who are 2-2-2 in their last six games.
Two Yale players, Kevin Pope and Andy Shorten, were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday. Pope scored in both of the Bulldogs' matches last week. Against No. 2 Connecticut, his goal late in the second half pulled Yale within one of the Huskies. In the win over Columbia, his goal in the 88th minute capped the scoring. He now has three goals in his last four games.
Shorten started the onslaught of Yale goals when he scored in the 39th minute of the victory over Columbia. The goal temporarily tied the game at 1-1. Shorten is second on the team in scoring with five points (2 goals, 1 assist).
Stony Brook (9-6-2) is 6-0-1 at home this season. Michael Palacio leads the Seawolves in scoring with 14 points (4 goals, 6 assists). Mahamadou Simpara also has four goals, and Maurice Brown has scored three times. David Ditrich has started 15 games in goal and has a 0.91 goals against average.
The last meeting between Yale and Stony Brook came in the first round of the NCAA College Cup in 2005, and the Seawolves advanced with a 2-1 overtime victory.
The Bulldogs return to Reese Stadium to host Ivy League leader Brown on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
